What Should I Look For in Home Security?

1.    A Reputable Dealer/Installer.

WEBCO has been in the Colorado area since August, 1984.  We started out in the solar industry under the name of WEBCO Distributing Company, Inc.  We turned to more affordable energy options for our customers in 1987 manufacturing windows, and distributing and installing door seals and an attic insulation called ‘radiant barrier shield’.

In 1994/1995 we delved into the security industry part-time, and due to the overwhelming response we received from our customers, we changed our name to WEBCO Distributing Company, Inc. dba WEBCO Security, Inc. and became a full-fledged security company, offering installation, sales, and service.

Through the years WEBCO has used only two central monitoring stations to monitor our customers' homes and businesses.  When we decide on a central station it is with the customer in mind.  We look at their customer service record, response time, customer complaints, and talk to other security companies that use their services.

WEBCO has been a member of the Denver/Boulder Better Business Bureau since 1994/1995, and we apply their business standards and practices into our daily routines.  Check out our profile with the Better Business Bureau by clicking on the following link and typing in our company name.

2.    UL Listed Central Monitoring Station.

Monitronics International, Inc. is a UL Listed Central Station monitoring company created in 1994.  Monitronics is a privately owned company.

3.    Top-of-the-Line Equipment.

WEBCO uses GE Security products in our customers’ homes and business for it’s user friendly interface (the Simon III speaks in plain English) and for it’s available applications (two-way voice, cellular backup, X10 capability).

How Much Security Do I Need?

  1. Size and layout of home – WEBCO’s promotional/basic system consists of the main panel, two door/window sensors, one motion detector, one keychain remote control, one yard sign, and window decals.  This basic package was created for the average-sized Denver home.
  2. Life Safety and environmental needs – WEBCO offers a variety of additional sensors that can be added to the basic system that include the following sensors: smoke, carbon monoxide, medical alert, freeze/heat, glassbreaks, etc.
  3. All systems should contain exterior door sensors and one internal ‘trap’.  A ‘trap’ is a motion sensor.

What are the Benefits of a Home Security System?

  1. Protects your family and your possessions.
  2. Deterrent to crime – a home without a system is three times more likely to be burglarized.
  3. Your home and family are protected 24/7, 365 days a year.  Peace of Mind when you are home or away.

Will My Insurance go Down?

  1. Most insurance companies offer between 10-20% discounts on homeowner’s insurance, depending on the type of coverage the system monitors.
  2. Call your agent to see what percent discount your insurance company may offer for you.

Will I really use my system?

  1. As of 2003, almost 18% of all U.S. households owned some kind of security system.  That’s almost one out of every five homes, and that number has nearly doubled since 2000.
  2. 98% of system owners say their system is very or somewhat effective.
  3. 96% of system owners say they would recommend security systems to others.
